Unsellable Objects

A while back in my Jewelry category I wrote a post called Unsellablegivable objects in which I wrote about how sometimes I learn a new technique such as this beading one, and I simply can't bring myself to give or sell any of it away. Here is another example of something else I do when I'm not painting, drawing, sculpting, writing, sewing or exhibiting.

Furthermore, I'm really interested in learning about how other creatives 'focus' and limit themselves. Lately, I've been feeling as though it's futile to even try to limit myself since I get easily bored with any one technique. Even if I can manage to make twenty of something (which I do often) when the wave is over - I move on. With getting older I've settled a bit - but barely.

I just have an issue with wanting to do too much. During meetings my hands always have to be moving. I get over-whelmed yet still always have five projects going at once, all with self-induced stressed and deadlines.

My hub says I behave as though I'm going to die tomorrow and have to do everything today! I am quite honestly a doer and need to be making something always.

Is anybody else like this or is it just me?? I mean between my writing and blurring the line between fine art and craft on a daily basis, I'm all over the place as an artist. And that's ok right?? Yeah, that's the 21st century non-outsourceable mind...right??

I love that you are all over the artistic landscape of materials and subjects, it is your style, your charm, your creative calling card!

Hello?! Welcome to my life! Less fine art, more crafts, but often I consider my crafts fine art. ( :D One example is the winter formal decor.) I have a huge list of crafts I'm just waiting to whore. Seriously! It's great though. It keeps me busy and sometime sdrives me insane, but overall it makes me happy. And... it is 110% okay to be "all over the place as an artist." It keeps things interesting and gives you tons of outlets to become inspired and adds a whole new level to your fine arts!

Also, I agree with Isabella! I'm always drawing all over my notebooks, I can't stop myself! though all these ideas get overwhelming at times, doodling/drawing or crafting at times can also release the stress and serve as a break! Sometimes if Im busy working on a huge piece I have to make a smaller one so that I can finish the first piece, it's natural and helpful =)

while I'm currently living sort-of an art-deprived life, I totally understand about always having to do something. I often find myself complaining about having too much to do, but over-loading is something self-inflicted, in my case. having so much going on keeps me going!

yeah, dude. totally. i feel like focusing yourself is the key to really making the ones that shine, but it's so hard to do. I feel that especially in music making. it's like folk, electronic, rock, punk, experimental; there's too much fun stuff to make.

I think whatever happens, as long as you don't let indecision paralyze you, you're doing alright. now if i could only get a hold of that on music writing stuff, hep!

Hey, great colors, definitely looks like spring, I wouldn't sell it either. :)

Thanks for your encouraging and lovely comment on my blog, I'm sure we'll get to know each other during the online class. :) As I just read, you have two dogs? What breeds of dogs are they? :)
How come that you have been to Potsdam? :) I love this city a lot. :)

Lu :)
